How can local communities grow and thrive into the future? Hydro is how.
Long-term investment.
Our proposed projects will progress through many stages of delivery, from early development and investigation to construction and operation. We intend to become entrenched in community life in our project areas, supporting local businesses, generating economic growth, working alongside residents and enriching communities.
While our projects are expected to bring significant long-term benefits, we recognise this also comes with disruption for local communities, which is why we’re looking at a number of initiatives to mitigate those impacts. We’ve been consulting with the community to develop a framework for our Community Benefits Program. This will ensure we deliver the best outcomes for local communities and all Queenslanders, now and for generations to come.
Benefit sharing for our communities can take many different forms including:
- a community benefits program
- regional development
- industry engagement
- minimising impacts.
Each component has a unique focus, but the result is an investment in our regions and communities. We’re also working with government and local businesses to understand capacity and capability and to develop the skills needed for the future.
We plan to engage continuously with our communities to capture local knowledge and insights. We’ve established stakeholder reference groups for both of our proposed projects and offer a range of in-community events for two-way communication. We want to be good neighbours and we’re committed to doing just that.
To successfully deliver our projects we know we need to work collaboratively. That’s why we’re committed to working productively with the communities where our proposed projects will be located, particularly landholders, other residents in the local community and local businesses and industry.
